In Acts 17:18, Paul's message is summarized as "good news about Jesus and the resurrection." Today, however, it is difficult to think of resurrection as "good news." This talk will explore how the early Christian message about Jesus' resurrection and ascension could be understood as "good" news, especially to the marginalized, in light of what people of the first-century Greco-Roman world believed about the afterlife.
